In his quest to bring in more investors, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, Tuesday, hosted British High Commissioner Amb Jane Marriott.
Ambassador Marriott led a delegation from Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) a British consortium of investment advisors and experts that work with county governments to identify bankable projects and link them with development partners.
“We thank the British Government for their socio-economy development projects that Uasin Gishu benefits from through SUED”, Governor Bii said.
On her part Ambassador Marriott said she is confident that Uasin Gishu will receive technical and financial support towards actualization of strategic projects.
Through SUED, Uasin has identified several programs in Avocado Value Chain, maize milling, animal seed production, and solar powered cold storage facilities.
The county will collaborate with SUED to identify and connect sponsors, the projects will provide seed capital for local entrepreneurs interested in venturing these opportunities.
In the last three years, SUED worked with Municipality of Eldoret in developing Urban Economic Plan. They sponsored capacity building for Municipality staff.
