ADCB BEEFS UP ENFORCEMENT STRATEGIES TO MAKE COUNTY SOBER

The Directorate of Alcoholic Drinks Control Board has incorporated the Department of Administration and Coordination in a move to bolster and strengthen enforcement of strategies to fight alcohol and substance abuse.

The meeting aimed to strike a multi-faceted collaboration between the Ward Administrators, Sub-County Administrators and ADCB to end the production, consumption and sale of illicit brew as well as control and licensing of liquor businesses.

Acting Director for the ADCB, Mr. Koiya Arap Maiyo urged the administrators to work in cooperation and bring arms together to crack down on bars and clubs operating without licenses, selling repackaged alcohol and ensuring bars operate at appropriate hours. He also called for the arrest of those supplying illegal alcohol.

The county government is running a rehabilitation program with drugs and substance addicts trained on bests economic and health practices.

“We want to ensure a safe environment for our children and prevent them from exposure to unhealthy practices

…..The administration team will enable us to reach many places. Continuous monitoring and evaluation lead to effectiveness and positive results,” said Koiya.

The County will provide uniforms and identification cards to the inspection team and enforcers for accountability during operations and inspections. Present during the meeting included the Acting Director for Administration and Public Participation, Mr. Kiptanui Barno.
