COUNTY LEADS IN EFFORTS TO CONSERVE AND RESTORE  KAPTAGAT FOREST

The County Government of Uasin Gishu Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, Tourism and Wildlife Management in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and State Department for Regional and Northern Corridor Development, today converged for the 6th Annual tree planting exercise at Kaptagat forest in a bid to conserve and protect the environment by growing trees, rehabilitate degraded lands and restore the ecosystems.

Speaking during the tree planting exercise, Principal Secretary Ministry of Environment and Forestry Mr. Chris Kiptoo who was accompanied by Regional Development Authority and Northern Corridor counterpart Dr. Bellio Kipsang noted that there was an increase in forest cover from 5.5% in 2013 to 8.8% in 2022 countrywide, further commending the commitment of Kenyans towards the conservation and protection of the environment.

CECM Ms Mary Njogu also present noted that conserving the environment is key and as a county, they are passionate about conserving the environment for future generations. She thanked all the partners for their continued support to the County on environmental conservation.
