HOW ADOPTION OF INTERNET HAS TRANSFORMED COUNTY SERVICES

Adoption of internet in most of the county services has tremendously transformed the sectors realizing real time and upto date services greatly impacting positively on service delivery.

The internet has reduced cost and time spend while looking for services since clients can pay from wherever they are by a click of a button.

This has been achieved through the adoption of USSD code *364# and payment of parking fee on pay bill number 646464.

“We can track trends of revenues according to different streams unlike before when we used to issue our receipts to clients”said ICT,Trade and Industrialization CECM Dr Emily Kogos

“There is no handling of cash.Every service in Uasin Gishu County is automated to achieve both the clients service satisfaction and the targeted revenue collection as well as sealing revenue loopholes” she adds

Land rates,market fee, license, slaughter fee are among other services that have been automated.

ICT Chief Officer John Kemboi says:” We are working on automation of every revenue stream for ease of management and accountability”

So far, the ICT and E-Government under the system development section have developed county website,Revenue,USSD,Parking verification, Motorbike verification,Permit verification,New GIS Portal,Jobs Portal,Fleet Management System, Tourism and Investment, Education loans Management, Enterprise and Cooperatives System and documents management system.
