H.E Governor Jackson Mandago has announced that the county government of Uasin Gishu will provide free transportation of fertilizers to farmers who are in cooperatives during the upcoming planting season.
He said this is among the many initiatives by his administration meant to help raise farmer’s livelihoods across the county.
Speaking during a tour to Ainabkoi sub county where he commissioned several development projects, Mandago said they are focusing on farmers in cooperatives in bid to cut cartels in the agriculture sector.
He further out that his government had subsidized sexed semen from sh6,000 to the current sh2,500.
“This has increased milk production. We have also scaled up vaccination of livestock to reduce diseases,” noted Mr. Mandago.
“To ensure farmers succeed we have murramed all weather roads as this ensures farm inputs reach the market on time,” he added.
The governor however challenged livestock farmers to invest on animals feeds so as to avoid incurring loses during dry seasons.
