GREENING UASIN GISHU

The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Wednesday celebrated the ‘Africa Public Service Day 2020’ at Moiben Technical and Vocational College in Moiben Sub- County by planting trees.

The event themed Entrenching good governance: Developing Transparent and Accountable Public Institutions was graced by Dr Julius Ouma Jwan, Principal Secretary in charge of Vocational and Technical Training who encouraged the youth to take up opportunities given by the government to join technical institutions terming TVET as the future of the Nation.

Speaking on behalf of H.E The Governor, ICT and Trade CECM Dr Emily Kogos urged residents to plant trees on riparian areas adding that trees are critical in conserving the environment.

Water and Environment CECM Ms Mary Njogu said Uasin Gishu have surpassed 10 per cent forest cover and it’s headed towards a 15 per cent by 2022

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Jaldesa Abdirazak hosted the team in the morning for a courtesy call in his office.
