FLEET MANAGEMENT, A GAME CHANGER IN THE MANAGEMENT OF COUNTY MACHINES

In a quest to see all County Government of Uasin Gishu machines managed well, the Departments of ICT and E-government and Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works has rolled out fleet management system to help in the controlling of all county machines.

The App inventor on Friday trained all County Executive Committee Members and the Chief Officers on how to use the system, the telematics system app will put all machines under strict monitoring by a click of a button,

The system, developed by giant telecommunication company, Safaricom Ltd will contain the history of every vehicle.

Top officials will not only be able to check and track where their assigned departmental vehicles are but also detect their day to day conditions.

Real-time location, how it’s being driven (speed and kilometres covered), fuel management, ignition, idling time, vehicles faults and dates due for maintenance are among other features installed in the system.

Already fleet management devices have been installed in 211 county operational vehicles.

County Secretary Edwin Bett, CECMs for ICT Dr Emily Kogos, Eng Gideon Birir for Roads, Mary Njogu(Environment), Esther Mutai(Co-operatives)Samwel Yego(Agriculture)Eng Nelson Maritim(Lands) were among top county officials trained.
