In a bid to promote fish farming, The County Government of Uasin Gishu, Department of Agriculture Livestock Development and Fisheries on Thursday stocked Tamboiyot Dam in Kapseret Sub-county with 30,000, and Kapsemwo and Katuiyo dams in Ainabkoi Sub-county with 15,000 fingerlings each.
According to Director of Fisheries Charles Mwaniki, plans are underway to upscale dams with fingerlings from 15 to 24 to achieve a set target of 470,000 fingerlings.
Speaking during the stocking exercise, Kapseret Sub County Officer Salina Kimalel urged the residents to take good care of the dam as it is beneficial to them.
I urge you to to ensure that the dams are not contaminated to avoid suffocation of the fingerlings,” said Salina.
Present were Ainabkoi Sub County extension officers Kennedy Sakong and Maureen Cherop.
