Expectant Mothers Encouraged to Attend Ante-natal Clinics

Health County Executive Committee Member Mrs. Everlyne Rotich has challenged expectant mothers in Uasin Gishu County to ensure that they attend Ante- Natal Care (ANC) so that they can get professional guidance during the entire pregnancy period.

She said ante-natal care is important because mothers are advised what is required at different stages of pregnancy as well as on the progress of their pregnancy.

The CEC added that health workers get to prepare on the best way to attend to risk pregnancies thus reducing child mortality

She also added that the administration is working round the clock to ensure that all mothers in the County are attended to and when required.

The midwifery expert challenged mothers that their health during pregnancy is as important as that of their child, adding that her department was committed to promoting capacity building for staff working at the lowest facility spread across the County so as to deal with both Antenatal and postnatal care for the expectant mothers.

“When we have healthy mothers, we shall definitely have a healthy child,” Said the head of the department during a presentation by Moi University on the system approach to improving maternal and child health care.

She added hospital deliveries are encouraged so that proper records on child immunization is kept beside dealing with any emergencies that may occur during delivery.

The call comes at the time First Lady H.E Margaret Kenyatta is moving around the Country promoting Zero deaths during deliveries.

Health Chief Officer Dr. Jones Cheruiyot and Dr. Wensaulaus Kuria were among other County Health Management Team (CHMT) present during the presentation by Dr. John Simiyu.
