Eldoret National Show 6th-9th March 2019

Uasin Gishu County Government, Agricultural Society of Kenya in conjunction with other stakeholders in the agriculture sector, are gearing up for the Agricultural show set to kick off from 6th-9th March 2019 at the Eldoret Showgrounds.

The agricultural shows play an important role within the farming sector, generally in improving the quality of farm animals and crops.

On a site visit of the show, Chief officer for the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Dr.Victoria Tarus was impressed with the ground preparations especially the County demo plots which well tendered and ready.

” Despite the harsh weather, most of the crops have really turned out so well. Farmers will have a lot to see and learn from here,” said Dr. Tarus.

This year’s theme, “Promoting innovation and technology in Agriculture and Trade” focuses on bringing ideas and broad Knowledge on new technologies that can be adopted in the agriculture sector to increase productivity at the same time cutting down on costs.

Further, the show will focus on new ways for a change in the approach of farming to lessen the effects of climate change and enhance food security and employment creation.

Extension officers from the department with ASK officers are already recruiting animals for awards during the official opening.

The chief officer was accompanied by the Ag. director Agriculture, Mr. Wilbur Mutai, Director AMS, Mr. Micah Terer, coffee officer Luka Rotich among other officers.
