The Eldoret Municipality on Thursday morning hosted the Swedish delegation from the Municipality of Arvika with the aim of exchanging ideas on how the two municipalities operate.
The Eldoret Municipality Manager, Tito koiyet took them through a comprehensive presentation of how the Municipality works, the opportunities available as well as the challenges facing them.
The Municipality Manager noted that Eldoret town is strategically located with good infrastructure with an intersection of roads to link people to several major towns.
The availability of an International Airport, Airstrip, railway line and good road network is a plus to our town, ” added Mr. Koiyet
The seven-member delegation from Arvika Municipality led by Mayor Peter Soderstrom and Vice Mayor Kristina Bengtsson Nilsson were later treated to traditional dance and song from the Marakwet community courtesy of the ongoing music festivals at the County Social Hall.
In attendance were CO’s (Water) Simion Kemei (planning) Kenneth Mbeka, (Lands) Ruth Chelashaw, and Moi’s Bridge Ward Administrator Ann Chepkoech.
The team headed to Uasin Gishu Fire station headquarters where Ida Andersson, the head of Fire and Emergency responses in Arvika Municipality engaged with the Uasin Gishu Fireteam on disaster preparedness, emergencies and machinery available to handle them.
Most of your machines and activities are similar to ours in Arvika” noted Ida.
Later in the afternoon the team held a brief meeting with ELDOWAS Company officials, visited Kapsoya Water Treatment Plant, Two rivers dam and finished their long day visit at Boundary treatment works.
