UasinGishu County is ready for the rollout of the recently launched EduAfya Program for the Secondary school students.
These were the words of Ag. County Director of Clinical Services Dr Reuben Korir while giving his welcoming remarks to facility managers from both public and private hospitals during a one-day EduAfya sensitization exercise at an Eldoret Hotel.
He said that the new education package for the student would assist in the efficiency of health management in the local communities besides cushioning parents from a high cost of treatment when their children fall sick.
He said that he was optimistic that the ambitious program from the Ministry of Education in partnership with the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) will succeed just like the other programs such as Linda Mama.
The medic further indicated that the students will access services offered by all County facilities accredited by NHIF since it will be a fee for service product.
EduAfya is a new program by NHIF tailor-made for secondary school students who are set to benefit from services including both in and outpatient cover, dental, optical, emergency medical services, oversees treatment as well last expense and group life cover.
The target group according to the Ministry of Education is secondary school students in public schools and has been registered in NEMIS.
The training was organized and conducted by NHIF brought together different stakeholders who included high school principals, the Ministry of Education officials and facility managers.
