Deputy Governor H.E Hon Daniel Chemno has commended the work done by health development partners in improving the livelihoods of the residents of Uasin Gishu County.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday morning as he hosted Amref Board of Directors led by Country Director Dr. Meshark Ndirangu, the Deputy County boss said Amref had partnered with the health department of Uasin Gishu County Government to promote proper hygiene in a number of areas such as Turbo.
He mentioned drug resistance cases that the non-governmental body had come in aid of the residents in the northern corridor as some the areas of partnership.
While calling for more development partners to come forward and work with County Governments, the DG asked the National Government through the Ministry of Health to release all funds meant for health functions to the devolved units as health is one of the fully devolved functions of the government.
On their part, the NGO said that they would continue working with both National and County Governments in providing quality health care to the residents.
Some of the areas Amref has been partnering with the administration includes; reproductive health, proper sanitation under wash initiative as well as staff capacity building.
The Amref board is in Uasin Gishu County for a retreat and visit to some of the facilities in the devolved unit.
