The Department of Water Environment, Natural Resources, Tourism and Wildlife Management on Thursday held a public participation exercise with the residents of Kapsiliot, Karuna/Meibeki Ward, Moiben Sub-County to sensitize them on the benefits of the development of Kapsiliot hills into a tourism attraction site to the community.
Addressing the residents, Chief Officer Simeon Kemei accompanied by Director Tourism Margaret Aiyabei engaged the residents, enumerating key benefits to the improvement of livelihoods besides infrastructural development in the area.
Moiben Sub-County Administrator Moses Kangogo urged the residents to own the project as they will be the greatest beneficiaries. Kapsiliot Hill is the highest point in Uasin Gishu County. It offers a beautiful view of the region. The Department plans to develop the hill into a tourist attraction site and afforestation the degraded forest this financial year.
