CPSB Appears Before Senate Committee

The County Public Service Board of Uasin Gishu County Government has today appealed to the Senate committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations for further legislation to enable the boards to be fully independent.

Speaking while appearing before the committee, Board Chair Mr. Joseph Tanui said that the boards need to have financial autonomy so that they can fully discharge their mandate.

The Board further presented their proposal on a new board structure which will ensure proper representation.

Their proposal states that the chair should have a Human Resources background citing that the board was tasked with the function of hiring, promotion and disciplinary cases.

The committee commended the administration for being an all-inclusive government citing the recently recruited Persons Living with Disabilities as one of the ways the government has ensured that there is justice to all.

Commissioners Joyce Kebenei, Joyween Sang, Ann Koech, Dr. Joseph Lelan and Rev. Dr. Luka Ariko were present during the deliberations with the Devolution committee which is chaired by Senator John Kinyua.

Senators Juma Boy Juma (Kwale), Yusuf Haji (Garissa), Boniface Kabaka (Machakos), Wario Gurich (Tana River), Falahada Deko (Nominated), Samson Cherargey (Nandi) and Amos Wako (Busia) were present.
