The Department of Roads and Public Works is set to roll out a Fleet Management of all its machinery after receiving a telematics system that will see all county machines monitored by a click of a button.
The system developed by Safaricom Ltd will contain the history for every vehicle among them detecting fuel consumption, speed, location, idling time, vehicle faults, and dates due for service and maintenance.
While receiving the Application today at the County Headquarters, Roads and Public works County Executive Committee Member Eng. Gideon Birir said all challenges in the transport sector will be a thing of the past since every malpractice will be monitored in the system and a swift action taken.
Present during the handing over of the system were Chief Officers Barnabas Too (Roads), John Kemboi (ICT and E-government), Fleet Management Project Manager Gideon Sang among others.
