Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor H.E Hon Daniel Chemno on Thursday hosted officials from National Construction Authority (NCA) who paid him a courtesy call on matters Climate Change mitigation in Uasin Gishu County with the theme ‘Forest for Sustainable production and consumption’.
The Deputy Governor reiterrated the County’s commitment to Environmental Conservation urging residents to prioritize tree planting. The CECM Water Ms. Mary Njogu added that with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), over 30 million trees have been planted so far countywide.
According to Ms Mercy Okiro, the NCA Board Vice Chair, the Construction Company is the biggest contributor to deforestation and that is why tree planting is key in their agenda. The team together with Kenya Forest Service and other key stakeholders later planted 1000 tree seedlings at Kapseret Forest.
