Section 54 of the Kenyan Constitution defines that the state shall ensure the progressive implementation of the principle that atleast 5% of the members of the public in elective and appointive bodies are persons with disabilities.
In line with this, the County Government of Uasin Gishu, Public Service Board on Tuesday conducted interviews for more that 165 People Living with Disabilities (PLWD), a move aimed at filling vacant positions in the county.
Speaking during the interview session, the Chairman Public Service Board, Mr. Joseph Tanui noted that Uasin Gishu County is an equal employer that recruits fairly and in a transparent manner. He urged them to be ready to work diligently if accorded the opportunity.
“ We as a county government recruit basing on fairness and transparency putting into consideration your qualifications” added Mr. Tanui
The applicants were required to be Kenyan citizens with either degree, diploma or certificate from a recognised institution of higher learning and be registered with the National Council for People Living with Disabilities(NCPWD)
