COUNTY HOLDS COUNTY AGRICULTURAL SECTOR STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries on Thursday held a County Agricultural Sector Steering Committee (CASSCOM) meeting to preview the ASDSP II progress on the value chains.

Speaking during the meeting, Livestock Development and Fisheries Chief Officer Dr. Victoria Tarus said that the report should be made through consensus whereby members are allowed to contribute.

As CASSCOM let’s have an inventory of all the programs in the County because it is through meetings that we make informed decisions and discuss its impacts on the value chain actors,” said Dr. Tarus

Agriculture Chief Officer Mr. Julius Rotich noted that CASSCOM is a decision making body in the County and there is a need to incorporate the beneficiaries as they will determine the success of the projects.

Let’s look at the target beneficiaries and incorporate people living with disabilities and youth so that we can achieve our target,” added Rotich.

On his part, County Director of Agriculture Mr. Reuben Seroney said that they are on course with the program having already held planning and sensitization meetings across the County.

ASDSP II project Coordinator Mr. Peter Shitoga added that they are doing an affirmative action to bring onboard women and youth as their needs are addressed.

Present also were Directors Simon Langat(Livestock)and Dr. Philip Biama(Veterinary Services).
