COUNTY EMBARKS ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING TO RESIDENTS

The Department of Lands and Housing is on the cause to ensure county residents access quality and affordable housing especially to those living within the town.

In an inspection exercise to County Pioneer House Estates, Chief Officer for Lands and Housing Adv. Ruth Chelashaw, noted that the department is currently carrying out perimeter walling in a bid to ensure there is sufficient security around the 200 housing units at Pioneer.

She also noted that some of the houses had been vacated without notification and confirmed that the department will carry out a headcount of tenants by end of the week.

“All tenants must be in their units during the headcount and if not, the houses will be repossessed by the office,” noted Adv. Chelashaw.

Macharia Estate perimeter wall has also kicked off with the contractor already having brought materials on site.

“Am impressed with the contractor’s start of the groundwork at Macharia as this will now secure the area in preparation for construction of affordable housing to the residents,” said Adv. Chelashaw.

Acting director Lands and Housing Nelly Jerotich was present.
