COUNTY DISTRIBUTES 100 BEEHIVES TO OGIEK COMMUNITY IN TARAKWA WARD

The County Government of Uasin Gishu Department of Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries today distributed beehives to the Ogiek community In Tarakwa ward Kesses Sub-County with an aim of improving their livelihoods as well as empowering them economically.

Agriculture CECM Samuel Yego who was accompanied by Tarakwa Ward MCA Patrick Bundotich said that they will deliver another batch of the beehives to the community before the end of this year, further adding that the honey processing machine will be set up in Ndungulu.

Livestock Development and Fisheries Chief Officer Dr. Victoria Tarus said that the Department will source for market for the honey produced by the Ogiek and will make sure that all supermarkets in Uasin Gishu sell the byproduct.

John Kimengich Ngetich, a beneficiary thanked the County Government of Uasin Gishu for giving them beehives, he also Urged the administration to channel any assistance directly to them.

Kimengich noted that the Beehives will help them educate their children and get their NHIF covers.
