County Conducts Public Baraza on Alcohol

Uasin Gishu County Alcoholic Drinks Control Board Director Mr. Silas Boit has disclosed that his board will withdraw all licenses from bar owners who don’t comply with the laid down rules.

Speaking in Ziwa Ward, Soy Sub-County during a public baraza, Mr. Boit said that the government will crack its whip on all those who do not observe the guidelines issued to them while they were applying for the liquor license.

Mr. Boit further added that his officers will intensify surveillance and spot checks to ascertain numerous complains from members of the public that some pubs within Ziwa township have been operating before and past required time.

“We came here today to listen to your complaints including the letter you have forwarded to us and copied to other relevant government bodies citing numerous issues which include operating past the stipulated time,” Said the tough-talking liquor boss.

Members of the public present objected to how the bar owners have been operating.

Mr. Boit cautioned unscrupulous businessmen and women who have been misusing the name of the Uasin Gishu Governor to justify their wrongdoing citing that stern action will be taken against them including charging them for impersonification.

Soy Sub-County Administrator Mr. Kipchumba Barno who was present during the event said that regular inspection will be carried out to ensure that standards are maintained. He also asked the bar owners to devise safe ways to dispose of alcohol bottles citing that it was an environmental hazard if disposed of carelessly.

The administrator asked members of the public to forward complains of all the licensed bars operating against the laid down guidelines.

“Whatever we pass here today we will enforce to the letter. I want to assure you that everybody’s right will be respected,” Added the former KNUT official.
