County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) Games to be hosted in Eldoret

It is all systems go for the 2019 County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) games festivals themed “Sports and culture as means of cohesion” that will kick off in Eldoret in a fortnight.

The week-long event will attract over 10,000 participants from the 47 County Assemblies, it will be officially opened by the Deputy President Dr. William Ruto.

The teams will compete in 23 disciplines that include football, volleyball, netball, athletics, basketball, beauty contest, cultural dances among others.

Speaking when he hosted CASA Governing Council in his office Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, EGH, said it was a great honor for the County to host the second CASA games.

He further said the inter-assemblies games are very important as they promote cohesiveness and integration between different counties and communities hence boosting national unity.

“……. I urged the assemblies to see the need for allocation of more funds on these games and other inter-county games,” noted Mandago

He assured the officials that there are enough facilities to host the games.

“…….so, be aware that Eldoret is well prepared and ready to host the games,” noted the county boss.

“We are going to work together to make sure that CASA games will be successful,” added Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno who was in attendance.

According to CASA Chairman Peter Imwatok, who doubles up as Makongeni Ward MCA, Nairobi County is looking forward to a successful event. He thanked Governor Mandago for good infrastructure.

We thank you, your Excellency, for accepting to host the 2019 CASA games. We choose Uasin Gishu County because of the good infrastructure, sporting facilities and accommodations as well,” noted Imwatok.

On his part, the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat said the main aim of the games is to entrench friendship among the 47 counties.

Chief Officer Youth affairs and Sports Joseph Maritim, Director Sports Henry Mukholwe among other county officials were also in attendance.
