As a way of supporting the transformation of cooperative movement across the county, the County Government of Uasin Gishu has channelled resources to the grassroots through cooperative societies.
Speaking during a summary of key investment opportunities in Uasin Gishu County at homecraft, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development CECM Ms Esther Mutai said the County has injected money to support cooperative societies.
“We have a fund called County Enterprise Development Fund which is currently at Ksh. 600 million which we lend to cooperative societies for value addition, improvement of their systems and to purchase machineries,” said Mutai.
She adds that the County Government has established 46 milk coolers across the county in support of value addition activities, therefore, urging the National Government to continue channelling it’s support in provision of coolers to various cooperative societies.
She called on Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to crack the whip on corrupt leaders who misuse the societies resources.
“We have a challenge in managing taxation and licencing bodies. I urged you to work together with us so that we can reduce taxation on them” she added.
