Chief Justice courtesy call
Uasin Gishu County could be the first to pilot a judiciary-counties project that ensure that each of the sub-counties get a magistrate’s court.
The Judiciary has planned to team up with counties to establish courts in each of the sub-counties across the 47 counties.
Chief Justice David Maraga confirmed this as he paid a courtesy visit to H.E Governor Jackson Mandago’s office.
And speaking during the meeting, Governor Mandago asked the Chief Justice to start off the courts in grassroots program with Uasin Gishu.
Governor Mandago said a structure that housed a colonial court will be renovated fast so as to start the program.
As soon as it is running, the Moiben Court will serve as far as Soy,Moiben itself to far Chebororwa to extreme North and by extension across the border to Elgeyo Marakwet.
Mandago said the Council of Governors will be happy to support the program as it ultimately goes far in ensuring services are taken closer to the people.
