BOOST FOR UASIN GISHU TRADERS AS EXTENSION OF COUNTY STREET LIGHTING PROGRAM CONTINUES

The Uasin Gishu County through the Department of Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works has made a great economic impact on the residents during the 2020/2021 financial year following the completion of over 40 schemes of street lights spread in 25 wards. A total of 115 schemes are planned for completion by end of March 2022.

According to Director Energy, Eng Julius Ronoh,in the 2021/2022 financial year, 21 wards have allocated KSh 94,650,000 under the Ward Equitable Fund for the extension of the program, further noting that the remaining work will be completed by June this year. He said that surveys have been done in all of the earmarked areas for the installation of the street lights in the Wards.

The lighting program has boosted hours of traders conducting their businesses, improved security and access to electricity for residents in both urban and rural parts of the agriculture-rich county.
