Members from Kaplesa cooperative society have all the reasons to improve their breeds, this after the County department of Agriculture and Livestock development provided AI kit to the cooperative.
While giving the kit to the society, Agriculture CEC Samwel Yego called on the members to utilize the kit, pointing out the subsidized prices the county has offered.
Yego noted that the County took an initiative of finding the best quality of semen, this with the aim of empowering the farmers with the best livestock breeds.
I wish to emphasize on an improved dairy farming that involves proper feeding management. This will complement the success of this AI production for better yields”, said yego.
On her side, Livestock chief officer Dr. Victoria Tarus said that the use of the AI will yield to increased production of milk which will in turn help the growth of the farmers and the cooperative.
She further assured on support in the provision of the AI services saying that the County is eyeing 100 p.c use of the service in siring.
Veterinary Director Dr. Phillip Biama noted that the County has enough trained AI personnel who are available round the clock to offer the services
Biama urged farmers to always respond to calls on vaccination to get rid of notifiable diseases.
