The County Government of Uasin Gishu under the leadership of H.E the governor has reduced costs incurred in dairy production sector by half.
The price of dipping has significantly come down to as low as Ksh 10 per head of cattle from Ksh 30 following the establishment of more than 500 dips and free supply of acaricides annually.
In addition, 60 coolers have been built, two in each of the 30 wards which will help farmers store their milk as they look for a buyer with the best price.
Already, several cooperatives have been helped to acquire coolers as other sites are under construction.
Also, sexed semen seeds have been subsidized, with farmers now getting the 100% heifer seed for Ksh 2500 down from Ksh 7000.
The sexed semen will further be subsidised in the ambitious plans to increase milk production.
