The County Government of Uasin Gishu’s Department of Health Services has nodded the contractor to start construction of a 70- bed capacity maternity at West Clinic and Maternity Centre.
The Department handed over the site to the contractor,Eldorotsa Construction Company, to commence the establishment of the facility.
Construction works begin in the next two weeks, with the contractor already assembling equipment.
Speaking during the handing over, Chief Officer in charge of Health Services, Wilson Kemei, said this being a flagship project has to be built to the highest standards.
“Quality and time is for the essence here because the Governor is so passionate about this project,” said Kemei.
Kemei also asked the contractor to ensure that casual jobs at the site are given to locals.
He also asked the construction company to bring on board students who have studied under the County scholarship program.
