Uasin Gishu County will be represented by three athletes in this year’s IAAF world U18 championships which is set to kick off from 12th-16th this month in Kasarani, Nairobi.
And on Tuesday the County represented by the County Secretary Mr. Peter Leley flagged off the IAAF caravan which has been traversing various counties to create awareness on the event.
While giving his address, the County Secretary said the county will ensure that sports are realized among the youth noting that it is one of the key areas the county is looking into as a way of empowering them.
“We are the County of Champions and we are supposed to live by our slogan and for this, we are going to scoop an award through the athletes who will represent us” noted leley.
Speaking on behalf of IAAF, Hon. Joseph Lagat who is the
Association’s Marketing director applauded the County’s commitment to naturing sports talent among the youth across the county.
The association presented entry tickets to the Governor, his deputy and all the executive who will represent the county at the event. Mr. Lagat further confirmed that all the athletes and those in attendance will receive proper treatment to and fro the competition
