19 DAYS TO GO! TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE LANDRATES WAIVER

Land rates is one of the most important sources of revenue generation, in its pursuit to attain the 1.2 billion shilling revenue target, Uasin Gishu County Government has today engaged all administrators to come up with ways to ensure this target is met within the remaining 19 days before close of year.

CECM in charge of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development Eng Nelson Maritim, says land owners within the county need to clear up the dues owed to the county in land rates. He also noted that defaulters are still out there and are urging all residents to take advantage of the 100% waived interests and penalties to pay off.

“With this waiver we expect to hit our target. It’s now our collective responsibility as revenue collected will go back to serving the wananchi through provision of infrastructure and government services. The waiver is timely and a relieve especially within these period of Covid and we are not extending the exercise beyond 30th of June 2021. That’s is why we are bringing on board all our administrators, directors and all officers to the sensitization program to reach as many people as possible, “Said Eng. Maritim

Chief officer for Lands and Housing Adv Ruth Chelashaw joined by her counterpart from ICT Mr. John Kemboi, said that the collection of land rates was now a priority and to enhance the overall collection, the department of Lands together with Trade, ICT, Finance and administration have put dedicated staff to ensure that the process of payment, registration and receipting is as quick as possible.

” We have dedicated a team to handle the system, registration of parcels and phone calls for a smooth running of the activity. let’s publicize the activity as much as possible to reach all land owners where they are,” said Adv. Chelashaw

Municipality Manager Mr Tito Koiyet, emphasized on follow up of parcels within the municipality that had not complied.
