H.E Governor Jackson Mandago has challenged Kenyans to make it a habit of going for regular medical checkups.
This he said will help identify and treat chronic diseases when still at an early stage.
Speaking when he presided over the opening of Texas Cancer Center in Eldoret town on Saturday, H.E Mandago said the facility will be of great help to patients who were being forced to travel abroad for specialized cancer treatment.
“This facility will not only provide health services to the locals but also offer a number of employment opportunities to our young men and women,” noted H.E Mandago.
“I believe this Cancer Centre being located near our Moi Teaching and Refferal Hospital and the Medical Training College it will assist in research as well as preventive cases for cancer,” he added.
The governor further challenged the young generation in the society to help the elderly acquire national Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) cards to enable them benefit from various treatment.
The Texas Cancer Centre has the latest cancer treatment machines that will enable it offer Cancer screening, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy among other services.
